Re: Codeine reduction

Down to four tablets from today. So far so good. Based on my previous weeks I think I can get to four, but three and a half and lower will be difficult for me to maintain. I'm wondering whether to just stop and ride it out.

Re: Codeine reduction

I wish I was able to go cold turkey but I know it won't work for me, tapering is much the best option. It may keep the symptoms of reduction going for a little longer, but I need to know that I can function through the day, cold turkey wouldn't allow that and I would give in. At the moment it's diff...

Re: Codeine reduction

Tapered down to 4.5 yesterday and it's getting tougher. Still staying within my target but having to battle through.

Marg how are you getting along.

Re: Codeine reduction

Although my target is to stay on five or below, I managed on both Saturday and Sunday to take only two tablets first thing in the morning. As you know Marg I struggled mid afternoon yesterday which is one of my critical times, but managed it. I awoke at about 3.30 this morning with nausea and fuzzy ...

Re: Codeine reduction

It's definitely a struggle, but I've tried to stop the dialogue with myself as this keeps me thinking about taking codeine. Distraction doesn't help me either because I start to feel fluey and dizzy and this gets worse as time goes on. I've decided to accept this and leave bigger gaps between the ta...

Re: Codeine reduction

I agree Marg. I recognise there has to be a little kindness towards yourself, but I've been doing too much of it and it hadn't worked so I need to change tactics. I'm down to five this week, but this morning I woke and didn't feel too bad, but still reached for my two tablets. Instead of taking them...

Re: Codeine reduction

My taper moves down a notch today to five tablets. I've spent time over the last weeks noticing when I need codeine and the triggers. First two when I wake up and I guess this is because of the longer gap between the previous tablets and then just after lunch or mid afternoon. This week I will be re...

Re: Codeine reduction

My first week of tapering. Did not go over my six tablets. Three days I managed to stay on four, but otherwise my usual Six. From tomorrow I will be taking 5.5 or less if I can. I am apprehensive about this but believe this is doable. I have noticed since starting that it is a mind game. When I thin...

Re: Codeine reduction

Thanks for the response. You're right of course it is better to go slowly with this. I wanted to quickly get free from this addiction, but can see the sense of a steady progression. I also understand the mental process which will be very difficult for me. Sometimes I take two tablets because it's ti...
